1. Controller
The controller within the meaning of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is:
Nils Wagenaar
Schwalbenstr. 3
49828 Neuenhaus
Germany
Phone: +49 5941 7199525
Email: info@nilswagenaar.de
2. Basic principle: no account, no sharing
iDetox does not require a user account and does not run a server that receives data from the app. All data the app processes stays on your iPhone. Nothing is sent to us, to advertising networks or to any other third party. The app itself connects to our website only to retrieve a public text file, see section 5. The guides open in Safari, also see section 5. iDetox contains no tracking, analytics or advertising software.
3. What data is created on your device
The following data is stored only locally on your iPhone:
• Your settings: bedtimes per weekday, the “Sleep protection” switch
• Your choice of apps that stay available. Apple only provides the app with anonymous identifiers for this, not the names of the apps
• A log of lock events with timestamps (started, ended, unlocked with a triple tap) and the statistics and badges calculated from it
• The start date of the trial and the purchase status
• A technical log for troubleshooting (for example the start and end of schedules, locks and error messages, without app names). It leaves your device only if you send it yourself with the “Diagnose teilen” (share diagnostics) button in the settings.
The purposes are operating the lock, showing your statistics and checking the trial. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (providing the app's functions).
4. Screen Time (Family Controls)
To lock apps, iDetox uses Apple's Screen Time technology (Family Controls, Managed Settings, Device Activity). The lock is applied only on your device. We receive no information about which apps you use or for how long. You grant the permission once in a system dialog and can revoke it at any time in iOS Settings under Screen Time. iDetox then has no effect. During a lock, iDetox also applies Apple's web filter so that websites in Safari and other browsers are locked as well. This filter also works only on your device. In addition, the “Usage” card shows an overview of your screen time (usage per category and app). Apple creates this report on your device and displays it in an extension of the app. The numbers stay there: iDetox can neither read, store nor transmit them.
5. Charging state and Shortcuts
iDetox reads the charging state of your device to detect whether the cable is plugged in. You create the automations yourself in Apple's Shortcuts app, and iOS runs them locally. No data is sent to us.
From iOS 27, iDetox offers to add ready-made shortcuts with one tap. To do so, the app retrieves a small public text file from nilswagenaar.de when the setup is shown. It contains only the current addresses of these shortcuts. The app does not send any data from the app or from your device. As with any web request, the web server technically sees your IP address and may briefly keep it in its usual server logs. We do not evaluate these logs. The shortcuts themselves are loaded by Apple's Shortcuts app via iCloud, not by iDetox.
When you tap “Guide: set up the automation”, iDetox opens the page nilswagenaar.de/idetox/anleitung.html in Safari. The address contains only the language (German or English) and the major iOS version (26 or 27) so that the matching guide can be shown. The same technical server logs apply as for any web page. The page sets no cookies and contains no tracking, analytics or advertising software.
6. Sharing badges
Badge images are created locally on your device. They leave your device only when you send them yourself through the share sheet to another app or person.
7. Purchase (in-app purchase)
After the free trial you unlock iDetox with a one-time purchase. Purchase and restore run entirely through Apple's App Store infrastructure (StoreKit). Payment data goes only through Apple; we neither receive nor store payment information. To check your purchase status the app contacts Apple's servers.
8. Storage period and deletion
Local data remains stored as long as the app is installed on your iPhone. Deleting the app removes it. The start date of the trial is also stored in your device's keychain and may remain after uninstalling so that the trial does not start again on reinstall. It consists of a date only and contains no other information about you.
9. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and to object (Art. 21). Since iDetox does not store data on its own servers, you can largely exercise these rights yourself. For requests, contact us using the details in section 1.
10. Right to lodge a complaint
You have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. The authority responsible for us is:
Die Landesbeauftragte für den Datenschutz Niedersachsen
Prinzenstraße 5
30159 Hannover, Germany
11. Changes to this privacy policy
We will update this privacy policy whenever the data processing in the app changes. You can always find the current version here.
